Once we know your head size, we will show you a selection of hats, varying in height and style, for you to choose from.
The shape of your head is then recorded using a conformateur, a milliner's device invented in the first half of the 19th century when top hats were at the height of their popularity.
Using this, we take a scale model of your head shape, which is converted back to actual size by a device called a formillion.
Fully refurbished and finished with a new leather sweatband, which is personalised with your initials, the hat is then heated and re-shaped to the formillon template, ensuring the perfect fit for years to come.
